Integrative Women's healthcare is for all women! Patients can be anywhere in the spectrum of wellness. We treat women who are generally in good health, women affected by chronic diseases, and/or women who are ready to look at the entire picture of wellness and ready to make the necessary changes. Initial consultations begin with an extensive questionnaire evaluating all aspects of wellness. A comprehensive roadmap to creating wellness is prescribed that may include traditional medical therapies,  alternative therapies, acupuncture, diet and lifestyle changes, Chinese herbs, supplements, biofeedback, hormone replacement,  or a weight management program focusing on proper nutrition.

Integrative weight management  approaches weight-loss from a holistic perspective. Dr. Sholes-Douglas will evaluate preexisting medical conditions and long term wellness goals. Prior to starting the program, a comprehensive physical exam with blood analysis is typically performed. There is a strong emphasis on the concept of eliminating inflammatory foods  and incorporating the evidenced-based benefits of the Mediterranean and Anti-Inflammatory dietary approach. Integrative weight-loss program provides education, accountability and  coaching to reach weight and wellness goals. The program consists of specific diet and lifestyle recommendations combined with supplements to support blood glucose balancing.  Important aspects of IWMP include attention to decreasing inflammation and balancing blood sugar. In addition, as with all other integrative medical programs, physical activity, sleep hygiene, along with mental and environmental stressors are incorporated. Through this program, you will understand the science behind losing weight and decreasing risk for developing or worsening of chronic diseases.

B12 (Cyanocobalamin)  SHOTS

Lipotrophic Fat Burner Shots  (MIC/Cyanocobalamin/B6)

Methionine: One of the sulpha-containing amino acids (cysteine & cystine are others) and is important for many bodily functions. It acts as a lipotropic agent to prevent excess fat buildup in the liver and the body, is helpful in relieving or preventing fatigue and may be useful in some cases of allergy because it reduces histamine release.  Patients with a Sulfa allergy should not take this injection.

Inositol: A nutrient which aids in the metabolism of fats and helps reduce blood cholesterol. Inositol participates in the action of serotonin, a neurotransmitter known to control mood and appetite.

Choline: Helps to support the health of the liver in its processing and excretion of chemical waste products within the body. Moreover, it is required for the transport and metabolism of fats and cholesterol within the body, which is important for the healthy support of the endocrine, cardiovascular and hepatic systems.

Diagnosing hormonal imbalance is not always straightforward. Stress, for example can alter the hormonal axis drastically and manifest differently in everyone.  Women in Balance (WIB) consultations address the common issues associated with adrenal, thyroid, and ovarian dysfunction. WIB consultations also address premenstrual syndrome and peri and perimenopausal conditions. Extensive hormonal evaluation is performed and appropriate lifestyle, supplement, and hormonal treatment is prescribed.

Common Symptoms Related to Thyroid, Adrenal, or Ovarian Dysfunction:

Cycle Changes
Weight Gain
Hot flashes and night sweats
Anxiety, irritability and mood swing
Fuzzy Thinking
Trouble sleeping and fatigue
Headaches and migraines
Vaginal Dryness
Breast Changes
Loss Of Libido

There are several factors affecting a woman’s ability to conceive. These factors are often overlooked and unfortunately as not well measured. However, there is compelling data that supports the fact that hormones are not the only contributor to infertility and certain not the only factor predicting outcome. Lifestyle and in particular diet can play a significant role in maternal and fetal health. Fertility enhancement consultations approach conception and pregnancy from a holistic view. Recommendations based on evidenced-based medicine may include acupuncture, dietary and supplement recommendation, and lifestyle adjustment. We will work with women preparing to conceive, trying to conceive, and in conjunction with women seeing reproductive endocrinologist (infertility specialist)

Heart balance consultations are designed for women with chronic or newly diagnosed hypertension, diabetes, hypercholesterolemia, or heart disease. Patients are counseled on integrative medical approaches focusing on lifestyle and weight management. Patients can often significantly reduce the need for prescription medications after modest lifestyle changes and weight loss. The heart balance program will evaluate specific physical and laboratory looking at inflammatory markers for disease.  An individualized program towards heart health and total wellness will be prescribed based on lifestyle, diet, stress, and personal health goals. Patients will benefit from the dietary approaches that focus on anti-inflammation and blood sugar balance.
